Periomaintenance
Periomaintenance, also known as Periodontal Maintenance, is cleaning the teeth to combat gum diseases caused by the build-up of bacteria in between the gum and the teeth; it is different from regular teeth cleaning.
There is an increase in the number of persons experiencing gum disease. Your gum gets affected by a disease when bacterial plaque accumulates on it and is not removed. Plaques are formed when food particles, bacteria, and saliva accumulate, forming a sticky film over the teeth. If this sticky film is not removed, the plaque grows and gets hard, giving rise to tartar. Tartar, when neglected, infects your gums and causes gum disease.
What are the symptoms of periodontal diseases?
During regular dental visits, your dentists will check your gums and perform the required treatments in case of any issues. However, in-between the sessions, if you notice any of the symptoms listed below, ensure to pay a visit to the dental clinic without delaying:
- Gum inflammation
- Bright red or purple gums
- Tender and bleeding gums
- Bad breath
